Don't Leave Me!

Description

The rumbles in the distance kept her moving. The pain in her heart kept her motivated. She wanted to run away from it all. She wanted to be numb now, and abandon every emotion inside of her. However, she knew she couldn’t. The powerful ache was a constant reminder that escape was impossible. Her pounding pulse was almost as loud as the cracks of lightning, at least to her.
Soaking wet, Trixie finally came in sight of a rock formation, leading inside of a shallow opening where she stopped to rest. Her small body trembled, cold, wet and exhausted. She had run as far as she possibly could, even though no distance could be far enough for her. Wind whipped around the trees and into the cavern, and she shivered, looking into the distant night with teary eyes. As carefully as she could, the young filly removed the oversized magician’s hat on her head, and pulled out a photo she had tucked inside.
“Mommy, why won’t you wake up,” she choked up, looking at the picture of her mother holding her.
She didn’t understand the full harshness of death, only that the nurses told her that her mother would never wake up from the sleep she had entered. She didn’t want to go to the foster home, she wanted to be with her mother. Sniffling, Trixie lifted a leg, wiping away some of her tears. As she did, a powerful wind entered her small sanctuary, causing her to bend down to stop her hat from blowing away. However, as she did, her hold on the photograph was loosened, and the item was snatched from her by the oncoming gust.
“NO!!!”
Pulling her hat back on, Trixie dove after the fleeing picture. She desperately jumped towards it, swiping her legs through the air in an effort to bring it back to her, but the wind’s cruel dance kept it away. Mud splashed onto her body, coating her hooves and the cape she wore. She tried as hard as she could to use her magic to hold it still, but her focused waned each time. With one last attempt she leapt out, missing the picture, and fell down into a large puddle with a splatter.
“NO!!! PLEASE DON’T LEAVE ME!!!” she cried out.
Sorrow-filled eyes watched as the photograph, the only one she had of her mother, was taken away by the wind, and eaten by the unforgiving night.
“—please—don’t go. I need you—”
Trixie’s eye welled as tears mixed with the rain that soaked her cheeks. She fell forward into the mud in front of where he hat had fallen and landed, sobbing harshly. Her body contracted, unable to hold back the pain her young mind had been infected with. What did she do to deserve this? Why had everything been taken away from her? All she wanted at this moment was to hear her mother’s voice telling her the answers, and telling her that everything would be okay.
“Don’t worry, Trixie. Mommy will make everything better.”
“My little magician, Mommy won’t ever leave you. You won’t ever be alone.”
But those words never came.
She WAS alone.
Grabbing her cape and the hat her mother had made, she curled into them, neither caring nor feeling the mud and the rain that surrounded her. Trixie was lost, she was scared, and she felt abandoned. She remained there, not knowing for how long, before sniffing hard, pushing her small frame from the uncaring forest floor.
“Don’t worry, Trixie,” she told herself out loud. “Everything will be okay Trixie.”
She didn’t care if these words were coming from her own mouth. She needed to hear them, desperately needing someone to say her name, and tell her things would okay.
“Trixie will be the greatest, most powerfulest magician in all of Equestria—just like her mommy said she would be—right?”
Fighting her way through the rain, she came across a clean puddle, watching her reflection through the falling rain and the ripples they cast over the surface.
“She will!” she exclaimed. “Trixie WILL be the best! She’ll make her mommy proud of her!”
Stepping forward into her hat, she held it steady on her head as she gave a scowl up to the relentless sky and the black clouds.
“She’ll be the best there is!!!”
Even if the false confidence she gave herself got her moving again, it was only a cover to hide from the rest of the world. She didn’t care. One way or another, she was determined now to become everything he mother hoped she would. No matter what she had to do.

Tried something different with this picture by not outlining anything once I finished. The rain also turned out decent XD

This is a snip from the story I plan on doing for her, which is also part two of my little series :3

I know how that feels when she ran away from Ponyville. :(
